Notes:

1) The “poetry manuscript” at issue here is evidently “Poetry anthology manuscript in safina format of 25 folios,” of which the Smithsonian record locator can be found at https://asia.si.edu/object/F2015.1. This is the only item that in the Smithsonian collection that comes close to matching the description in the letter, and does so fully, i.e. it is a Sackler/Freer Gallery poetry manuscript of Iranian origin that was acceded in 2015 and is described as being from both the Timurid and Qajar periods.

2) The letter is a good example of how OFAC considers the term “Iranian origin goods,” as it appears in 560.206 of the ITSR, to extend to items irrespective of their date of creation, and irrespective of whether they were created prior to the existence of the...
