1) Read in conjunction with Case No. IA-2012-298076-1, in which OFAC considered that a U.S. person could be involved in the sale of an engine to be installed in a jet that would then occasionally fly to Iran (not prohibited per se, but the Turkish airline might need a BIS license).

In this case, OFAC concludes that “[b]ased on the information provided in your letter and other information available to OFAC, Atlasjet's temporary exportation to Iran of the Aircraft would appear to be prohibited by section 560.205 of the ITR unless specifically licensed.” Nothing in the first paragraph of the letter suggests that the jet is “U.S.-origin” for the purposes of the ITR/ITSR, but it seems evident that...
