1) Compare Case No. NPW-1211, Case No. NPW-1165. This is another example of a private party enlisting its local congressional representative to ask OFAC to help speed up the processing of a license application. OFAC takes about a month to respond to the congressman, but did reach out to the applicant just two days after receiving the correspondence from the congressman (who appears to have contacted the OFAC office of legislative affairs; see native PDF file). Where a private entity has the ear of a member of congress, and OFAC is slow to act on a request, this may prove to be an efficient route toward getting quicker action on a request.
