1) The background of this letter is a longstanding anti-dumping order—renewable every five years depending on the outcome of a “sunset review” [1]—that sets import duties on the importation of pistachios from Iran to the U.S.

The importation of pistachios from Iran to the U.S. is, as of 7/2021, prohibited by the ITSR, but such importation was generally licensed as of the date of the letter by the JCPOA-related GL pertaining to the importation into the United States of Iranian-origin carpets and foodstuffs.
