The designation of Reach Holding Group and Reach Shipping Lines appear to have been the first (and as of 1/2021 only) designations made pursuant to section 1244 of IFCA since the pre-JCPOA enforcement actions against Dettin SPA (Italy) and Goldentex FZE (UAE).

Here, the basis for the designations is (in part) Section 1244(d)(1)(A), which provides for the blocking of persons that have “having knowingly sold, supplied, or transferred to Iran significant goods or services used in connection with the shipping sector of Iran,” in this case “arrang[ing] for port berths” and having “sold, supplied, or transferred four large container vessels” to .
